Meghan’s farewell wardrobe

A few months ago, Meghan Markle and her husband Harry announced that they would be stepping back from their royal duties. This caused a lot of controversy among the British public, with many people acting as if they would be personally affected. Nevertheless, on Monday, they performed their final engagement as working members of the royal family. Naturally I paid close attention to Meghan’s outfit and it’s safe to say that she killed it. Every single outfit left me in awe.

The first look was for the Endeavour Fund Awards, an annual ceremony that honours wounded servicemen and women who have used sport or adventurous challenges to aid in their recovery. This was their first official joint engagement following their announcement, and it was definitely worth the wait. Meghan wore a blue dress with cap sleeves designed by Victoria Beckham, paired with black court heels and a blue clutch. Beckham’s brand eludes elegance and sophistication and Meghan effortlessly channelled this in the dress.

The second look was worn at the Royal Albert Hall to watch the Mountbatten Festival of Music. The Duke and Duchess received a standing ovation as they took their seats, and their ensemble alone was definitely deserving of this. Meghan wore a striking red floor length dress designed by London-based fashion label Safiyaa, matching her husband’s uniform. This was paired with red heels and a red satin clutch, creating a monochromatic look.

The final look, my personal favourite, was worn at the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey. This event marked the final one in which Meghan and Harry would attend as working royals, as their new arrangement takes effect next month. Meghan took ‘going out with a bang’ to new heights with this all green look. The caped dress was designed by Emilia Wickstead with a matching headpiece. This was paired with nude heels, and a Gabriella Hearst bag finished off the look.

These pictures really warm my heart as Meghan’s smile and glow is irresistible. After her rocky experiences with the British media, it is delightful to see her looking happy. Not only were her outfits stunning, she coordinated with her husband for every event. This is almost symbolic of their union and support of one another. I am very excited to see what the future holds for Meghan and Harry and hope that the glow we see in these pictures becomes a constant in their lives.
